Under Mad Anthony’s Banner

This is a story of the frontier, a love story, of course, and the name of Mad Anthony is evidence that it deals with war. That name, too serves to fix the time. The story is of a young Englishman flying to America with his wife, who is pursued by the attentions of a distant relative. The relative follows also to America, steals the lady, and, carrying her off among the Indians, places here in their hands for safe keeping. Then the bereft husband joins Gen. Wayne’s expedition against the savages, and after wild adventures, wins back his lady. The story in its course gives the reader the opportunity to meet and companion with famous old borders like Lewis Wetzel—a man whose name stand for much to those who know the history and traditions of the early days of the Ohio country.
